Since 2008, the stone industry has seen a great growth of market demand in leathered, textured, brushed, flamed and antiqued slabs. In China, many stone slab companies are now stocking these leather and brushed slabs and waiting for a rise in price.
However, in the Stone Fair, we had collected much information from a lot of factory who are interested in these brushed slabs and having the edges with a standard brushed edge.
They were not sure about the type of best diamond tools to use to create a leather and brush finish on the edges that would match the pre textured slab. Usually different type and quality abrasive brush and diamond brush brings different effect.
Most of the slab factories are using the antique abrasive brush to create the texture in the first place as pengxing diamond abrasive brushes are the best polishing tools to creat these edges.
A great and simple method to match these edges is by using water fed electric or air tools. After you get the profile you want, simply use a 4” snail lock round abrasive brush, diamond grits like 36, 46, 60, then round abrasive brush 120,220,300 and that's all. This can match 90% of the finishes slab makers are creating.
As a recommendation, pengxing suggests using a snail lock backer up round abrasive brush with szie 4” and 5”. They are 5/8-11 thread and screw onto the polishing machine. These are used for 2 great purposes: 1) it’s a extremely fast change system and 2) this creates a very nice stable, even pressure on the brush, and give a better finish.
